The University of Rochester's C.E.K. Mees Observatory, devoted to teaching and public outreach in astronomy, is located 40 miles south of Rochester in the Bristol Hills (77 o 24'31.56" W, 42 o 42'01.0" N) at an elevation of 701 m (2260 ft). The Observatory houses a 61 cm (24 inch) Boller and Chivens Cassegrain reflector, dedicated May 8, 1965.

The C.E.K. Mees Observatory is UR's main tool for education and public outreach in observational astronomy. It consists of a computer-controlled 24-inch cassegrain telescope with a tracking dome, located on a dark mountaintop and outfitted for visible-light astronomy with research-grade CCD cameras and medium/low-resolution spectrographs.

C. E. K. Mees Observatory is an astronomical observatory in Bristol, New York, owned and operated by the University of Rochester. The observatory is named after C. E. Kenneth Mees, "in honor of his pioneering work in the development of sensitive photographic emulsions for use in astronomy."
