24 sie 2023 · This technique works by using a rubbing compound that contains a grit to wear down deeper scratches on the CD. It also utilizes car wax to fill any remaining scratches, protect the CD, and keep the CD clean.
Players are very rarely the cause of scratches. Taking your CDs outside exposes them to tiny bits of dirt, grit, sand etc that you might not notice. There are also loads of shitty CD binders around made out of material that scratches the discs.
I've tried 200 grade sandpaper as a last resort on a cd that was beyond the point of saving and I've made it worse. It actually causes more scratches. The idea is, I think, to create many little scratches and thereby evening out the whole surface.
