4 kwi 2023 · Moray Eels are most definitely dangerous. Not only are they apex predators but they are also capable of inflicting serious damage on humans if provoked. While Moray aren’t poisonous, their bites can often lead to infections which can cause further complications.
Gymnothorax funebris, green moray eels, can be found in the western Atlantic Ocean, including the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. Typically, these moray eels range as far north as New Jersey and as far south as Brazil.
12 lip 2013 · We used a time-calibrated phylogeny for 40 species of moray eels to analyse the evolution of elongation and the morphological mechanisms underlying variation in body shape and maximum body length. We find that body elongation in morays evolves independently of elongation of the vertebral column.

10 cze 2013 · The body of green moray is muscular with a long dorsal fin that extends down the length of the body starting from the head and ending in a short tail fin. On the average, the length of adult green moray is about 180 cm (ranges from 90 – 150 cm) with an average weight of about 13 kg.
In order to breathe, green morays must constantly open and close their mouth to move water through their gills. This action gives moray eels a threatening appearance but they rarely attack unless provoked.
