7 maj 2024 · Greek letters can be used to represent physical quantities, constants, variables, and mathematical operations in physics. For example, α can represent thermal expansion coefficient, β can represent beta decay constant, and ω can represent angular velocity. What are some commonly used physics symbols?
Table 2-1 shows the 24 letters of the Greek alphabet. In order to be mathematically and scientifically literate, and so that you can communicate with others who study mathematics and physical science, you should know the proper names of these Greek letters.
Table shows small and big greek letters with their example usage in various kind of science such as mathematics, physics or chemistry. Additionally, it shows how to get a given greek letter in the HTML code (so-called HTML entities), TeX and TeX based formats such as LaTeX, KaTeX, MathJax etc. or in the UNICODE system.
