Each country’s average surface temperature for 2000-2020 is taken from the Weather for Energy Tracker. If the slope of a linear regression of temperatures is higher than 0.042°C per year (+0.011°C from the world average), that country’s climate hazard level is “high”.
This specific August was a warm month for the whole country, particularly over the Ionion area and the mainland. The mean temperature values exceeded the normal ones by 2 to 3 and locally 3.5 degrees Celcious.
The climate of Greece is changing by way of increased drought, flooding, wildfires and sea level rise. These extreme weather conditions are likely to become more frequent and as a result landscapes and biodiversity will be affected. [1]

8 cze 2022 · In the past two decades, the average rate of warming was 0.047°C per year – 0.011°C above the world average. By the end of the century, Greece’s mean air temperature is expected to be 3-4.5ºC higher than during the 1961-1990 reference period, with marked seasonal disparities.
