Ice skating at the McCormick Tribune Ice Rink in Millennium Park is presented by Discover Financial Services® and runs November 15 until February 2 (weather permitting). Admission to the ice rink will be free, but reservations are required.

The Grant Park Skate Plaza, designed by Chicago Landscape Architects Altamanu, was opened on December 6, 2014. The Plaza was initiated by Grant Park Conservancy President, Robert O'Neill. The new park occupies 3 acres (12,000 m 2 ) and has replaced the former skate area near the tennis courts.
Dozens of skaters could go perform stunts at the same time, unless other smaller parks. Public water fountain at the entrance of the park, very helpful on a 95 degree day. Within walking distance of many restaurants, plus the Art Museum, Planetarium, Aquarium, Soldier Field, etc.
