Meals on Wheels San Antonio and Grace Place Alzheimer’s Activity Centers were founded in 1977 by two San Antonio churches, St. John’s Lutheran Church and Grace Lutheran Church. We promote the dignity and independence of seniors who are in need of nutritious meals, companionship, and Alzheimer’s care.
1977 Members of St. John’s Lutheran Church and Grace Lutheran Church establish Christian Senior Services as an independent nonprofit to provide meals to the elderly and an adult day care program. It began with 8 meals each day and 5 senior clients in the day care program, named “Grace Place.”
Meals on Wheels is a proven public-private partnership that effectively addresses the challenges of aging by promoting health and improving quality of life for our nation's most vulnerable seniors. By leveraging the existing Meals on Wheels Network.

Grace also continues support of Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, and Grace Quilters who have shipped more than 4,000 quilts to Lutheran World Relief since they started in 2002. An interesting side note about the beauty of the sanctuary is that in 2012 Grace was included in two books.
