   only "solution" i have found is: full screen chrome --> gap shows up --> three finger swipe up --> three finger swipe down --> gap disappears. Can't believe this is still happening months after the new mac OS came out. Please try enabling Immersive Fulscreen Toolbar in chrome://flags, that fixed it for me.
