24 maj 2023 · The hike to Goat Lake is one of the best hikes in the Sawtooth Mountains. In case you haven’t heard about this fabled lake yet, it is an alpine lake with unreal turquoise-colored water that is cradled by jagged mountain peaks.
Fires are NEVER allowed at Goat Lake because of its high use and limited fuel sources. If you see a rock fire ring on the ground it is illegal, please don't use it. Due to the high use and lack of natural soil, packing out human waste is strongly recommended here. Help protect our water quality and fragile alpine ecosystems by using wag bags.
The entire hike is uphill and the end is the most challenging, but the views along the way and the lake itself are well worth the hard work. Can be done as a day hike, day trip from Sawtooth Lake, or as a backpacking trip.

• Campfires allowed ONLY in a backcountry pan or fire blanket. • Campfires are NOT allowed at some lakes and in some drainages in the Sawtooths. Please review the campfire restrictions at individual trailheads. • Permits required for all stock use in the wilderness.
2 paź 2023 · The Sawtooth Mountain range is a sub-range of the Rocky Mountain range in Central Idaho. It is renowned for its jagged ridges and peaks, multitude of alpine lakes, and beautiful backcountry. We spent two weeks exploring this part of the world, and we saved the best hike for last.
