Dealers do not have Version 2 PALs to install. Most won't even know what a Version 2 PAL is. But you can have any original PAL (GM part number 17800593) upgraded to Version 2 with a software modification and a new iPod cable. Or you can change the iPod cable for charging.

The circuit board in the original PAL (GM part number 17800593) is identical to the Version 2 PALs, so the PAL modules look identical.

8 sty 2009 · I have the GM PAL, which was installed by the dealer. It's tucked away in the glove box and charges the iPod as well as providing an interface through the stereo. You can navigate through your iPod tracks fairly normally via the center console and the steering wheel controls.
