The term “chatbot” is used to describe a 3rd party software is acting on behalf of a user in one or more Twitch chat rooms. This means they can act as if they were a specific Twitch account, appearing the same in Twitch Chat as any other real user.

They can be customized or set up to give viewers information about the broadcaster periodically, block messages that contain specific words, or interact with viewer commands.
Bot – Good bots (like Moobot and Nightbot) help streamers by moderating the chat and answering basic questions from viewers. Bad bots engage in ‘hate raids’ (see definition below) on streams by spamming racist, sexist, and other vile messages.
