The Waco CG-4 was the most widely used American troop/cargo military glider of World War II. It was designated the CG-4A by the United States Army Air Forces, [2] and given the service name Hadrian (after the Roman emperor) by the British. The glider was designed by the Waco Aircraft Company. Flight testing began in May 1942.

8 paź 2020 · Silent Wings – Texas Glider Training Program in World War II. For many years, there was a “Silent Wings” Museum in Terrell, Texas at the municipal airport. It was a tribute to the World War II glider project that allowed the Allies to transport troops and supplies into enemy territory.
This museum houses a collection of over 9,000 items, not including photographs and documents. After World War II, glider pilots sought to preserve their legacy and began a project to restore one of the types of gliders that they had flown, the CG-4A.
