When you take a glider ride with Hood River Soaring, you’ll feel the power of thermals that lift eagles while surfing the slopes of the “East Ridge” and the Mt Hood jet-stream wave. Our pilots listen and respond to customers’ requests, providing a highly customized flight experience.
Take flight in a glider plane, also known as sailplanes, for a quiet and peaceful ride over Tualatin Valley. Willamette Valley Soaring Club, a non-profit organization dedicated to the sport of glider flying, offers glider rides on a first-come, first-served basis on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from April to October.
Riding in a sailplane (or glider, if you prefer) is the purest form of flying. You'll be sitting in the front seat of our glider with your pilot flying from the rear seat behind you. The view will be breathtaking as you are towed to altitude behind one of our towplanes.
The Willamette Valley Soaring Club is a nonprofit organization located in the Portland area and dedicated to the sport of soaring (flying gliders). We hope that we can introduce you to the wonders of soaring by taking you up on one of our rides.
