I've been fansubbing since 2004 and have been in Anime-Keep, Nanashi and KAA (DVD Rippers). In 2005, I made my own group, [gg], and the rest is history. At my peak, I did timing/editing/typesetting/karaoke/filled in whatever role needed to be done.
Describes so much of my childhood, trying desperately to find Bleach episode 226 part 3 on Youtube and instead finding Rick Astley for the sixth time that day. One of my favorite fansubs related memories is from the extremely mediocre Sacred Seven that aired back in 2011.
UTW and FFFpeeps do pretty solid subs, they're probably the groups I've patronized most consistently. I'm sort of new to the fansub scene, so I'm not terribly familiar with all the groups. gg has done a great job with Penguindrum, but besides that I haven't really seen all that much.
