The images begin updating at 4.30am, 10.30am, 4.30pm and 10.30pm (BST) or 3.30am, 9.30am, 3.30pm and 9.30pm (GMT) and take approx 90 mins to complete.

Sea Level Pressure and 1000-500mb Thickness. Forecasts are issued by the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (model documentation) and are presented as a set of seven panels for each 24 hour interval from 0 (analysis) to 144 hours.

Precipitation in mm (or litres per square metres) Opis: The precipitation map - updated every 6 hours - shows the modeled precipitation in mm. The precipitation areas are encircled by isohyets - lines with equal amounts of precipitation. However, modeling precipitation is still not very reliable.
These maps show the 500 hPa Geopotential Height, i.e. the altitudes (in meters) of the 500 hPa atmosferic level pressure, the corresponding temperatures (in °C), and the Mean Sea Level Pressure (MSLP).
