I have an iPhone 4S that is unlocked with Gevey Ultra S, no problem at all. I also had an iPhone 5 that I unlocked with R-SIM Mini, but apparently these proxy SIMs don't work well with 3G so you have to use a tool called iRose to make it 2G-only.
Does anyone have experience with the Gevey Sim? I'm going to be in Europe for a few weeks and the best solution I came up with for using my phone overseas is to get the Gevey Sim Pro, a prepaid sim card, and the Google Voice app.
