You can play rated PvP and there are ranks for both Arena and Battlegrounds. Arena is divided into 2v2, 3v3 and solo shuffle (where you queue solo and get paired with 5 other players that play in 3v3 teams against each other until everyone has played in every available combination of those 6 players).
29 lis 2023 · PvP gear and PvP upgrades were reintroduced into the game with the release of Shadowlands in the 9.0 Patch. It goes into detail about cutoffs and requirements for upgrading gear, Honor and Conquest costs to purchase and upgrade gear, and ranks and titles that are available.
Right now, PvPers do not have to branch out into raiding or Mythic+ in order to gear for PvP (unlike BfA or even WotLK classic). You can acquire almost all gear through PvP, including the tier sets.

Rated PVP Rating. CR (Current Rating): The rating that you, as an individual player, are currently at. Each rated PVP bracket has it’s own CR: Solo Shuffle, 2v2, 3v3, and Rated Battlegrounds. All players start the season at 0, and the only way to increase their rating is to win a rated PVP match.

Honor in current versions of classic is actually a fantastic way to push PVP content to a larger group of people. if you arent familiar with current classic honor system, its essentially just a battle pass method of ranking up.
