Can I suggest dumping Genki all together and watching Cure Dolly's grammar series on YouTube? In total, there are about 90 videos. She teaches Japanese in an organic "Japanese" way, and frankly in retrospect, Genki did more harm than good in regards to my learning journey. She explains the structure and connects everything together.
As somebody self studying, Genki did not work for me at all, and I found Japanese From Zero and the accompanying youtube series much better. However I have my Genki stuff, so even though I'm now on book 2 of JFZ, I might also try and get back into Genki with the help of these videos.
Initially I tried online only, but found I much preferred flipping through pages over flipping through a pdf. It also allows me to study when I'm not with a computer or tablet. I'm just more a physical book person anyways. The physical book is better.
