12 maj 2021 · The project explores how young people (aged 16–24) across the UK experience, express and understand ‘gender’ amidst the rapid discursive proliferation of gendered terms and identities. We draw upon data collected through 19 focus groups (total participants n = 136) during 2018–2019.
Using the 2015 Pew Survey of Multiracial Adults, we offer a more comprehensive analysis that considers gender differences at two distinct stages: reporting multiple races in one's ancestry and selecting multiple races to describe oneself. We also examine self-identification patterns by the generational locus of multiracial ancestry.
