1 kwi 2021 · My first glock was a Gen 4 17, I liked it and shot just fine with it. I traded it slightly used for a new Gen 3 and have liked the 3 a bit more. The bigger grip fits me better and I never felt myself needing the aggressive grip texture.
The Gen 4 Glock 17 is set up identically with the exception of having finger grooves. The Glock Gen 3 has no modularity whatsoever, so you’re stuck with the grip as it is. Texturing. Now, texturing is different on all of the three different current Glock production pistols.
Gen 4 has backstraps which means you can go up and down in size. Gen 3 is closest to the middle size, and cannot increase in size (can go down with frame work and stippling jobs). Gen 4 has a bigger mag release and better out of the box OEM texture.
