12 gru 2021 · This syllabus contains 13 lessons in ICT. All of those lessons have been tailored to the new curriculum in place since 2017. Also, the syllabus for these A/L streams is compiled by the National Institute of Education.
At present ICT is taught as a subject at G.C.E. (O/L) in a limited number of schools and at G.C.E. (A/L) in even less number of schools in Sri Lanka. In this situation students officially start to learn ICT at Grade 10 and as a result a heavy load of subject matter has to be included in ICT at G.C.E. (O/L).
Therefore, this syllabus is intended to introduce ICT as a technical subject to be offered at the G.C.E (O/L)Examination. The main objective of this syllabus is to develop the competencies to use ICT tools and to build a basic theoretical base for students to pursue higher studies in ICT.
Following table contains, the essential subject contents of grade 11 students to be followed to accomplish the syllabus. Guide students to use the "GuruGedara" programme and "e-thaksalawa" learning approaches to enhance the subject knowledge.
The second phase of the curriculum cycle thus initiated was introduced to the education system in the year 2015 as a result of a curriculum rationalization process based on research findings and various proposals made by stake holders.
