The PSP system features an unmatched library of entertainment content, combining more than 135 games and more than 430 feature films, TV programs, and videos on UMD from major studios and record labels, as well as downloadable content from the internet.
It is still a work in progress but I'm happy to finally confirm that we do have some sort of list for UMD video. I'm posting about this so more people are aware of it as I have only personally seen it mentioned in this subreddit twice with no source.
Custom firmware allows users to create an ISO backup of their UMD games. This helps preserve the disc and UMD case. It also allows for increased loading speeds for shorter loading times (if you have a quality memory card).
You can update the system software for the PSP™ system using any of the methods listed below. [Update via Internet] Download the update data directly to the system from the Internet. An Internet connection is required to update the system using this method.
If you end up making an ISO copy of your games, you will unable to update them by pressing triangle and update. You will need the UMD to update, but this method bypasses that.
To do this: – Insert a UMD game disc into your PSP which contains a firmware update. – Navigate to “Settings” and select “System Update”. – Choose “Update via UMD” and follow the on-screen instructions to start updating your firmware.
