I finally managed to track down one of these: Gabrielle’s (Renée O’Connor) screen-worn classic costume from “Xena: Warrior Princess”—specifically one of the style worn during seasons 3 and 4 of the series. The hero top and skirt were originally sold during the online portion of the 2001 It’s A Wrap! auction.
So Xena’s armor is made from that. It was sculpted in oil clay then molded in a porous clay and cast from there, giving the putty foam an instant warn, pitted look. Xena was a plus size costume and doing a fitted princess cut in leather had some challenges but it all worked out really well.
