The Georgia Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), is a federally-funded program that helps low-income households with their home energy bills. This assistance can reduce the risk of health and safety problems such as illness, fire, or disconnection.
Qualified individuals may be able to receive energy bill payment assistance, energy crisis assistance, weatherization and energy-related minor home repairs. Applications are offered first to homebound individuals, individuals age 65 and over and those with life-threatening circumstances.
Payment Assistance is Available. You could qualify for assistance if you have trouble paying your utility bill. The 2024 LIHEAP application period opened Dec. 19, 2023. Applications will be taken through Jan. 12, 2024.
