29 kwi 2005 · I've seen a lot of post with this misconception so Just to let everyone know there is a large difference in a G ¼ thread and a ¼ NPSM. There is more to a thread than the pitch diameter and the TPI. I personally would not put a ¼ G in a ¼ NPSM. yes you can get it to work but at what cost.
6 kwi 2010 · G 1/4 is referring to the threading size. It is separate from the Inner (ID) and Outer (OD) diameters of fittings and tubings. If you have 1/2 inch Inner diameter (ID) fittings you want to use 1/2" ID tubing. Quite a few people also suggest using 7/16" ID tubing on 1/2" ID fittings for a tighter fit. The tubing wall thickness is important as well.
If the fluid is comprressed air, G fitting should be fine unless there is a safety risk if the fitting were to fail.
TL;DR: Looking for g 1/4" fittings and matching tubing. g 1/4" is the thread size of the things that screw into blocks. here's fittings http://www.performance-pcs.com/fittings-connectors. Unless you get into some very odd fittings from the likes of Koolance, the threads on every piece of water cooling gear are G1/4.
The most common G 1/4″ threads at WIKA are surely the G 1/4 in accordance with EN 837 or DIN 3852-E. But in addition there are many other pressure connections which are all specified as G 1/4″. For example G 1/4 Ermeto and G 1/4 DIN 3852-A, just to name two.
