10 wrz 2024 · His idea is to use bare #4 copper wire (of which he has sufficient material on hand) to provide the grounding conductor for this sub panel. Will this be an acceptable solution? If he uses the bare conductor, must it be encased in conduit or can it be run, and supported, parallel to the existing Romex without conduit or other protection?
Bare Copper conductors are primarily used for grounding purposes as specified in the National Electrical Code. Soft-drawn solid or stranded conductors, for use as grounding connections in circuits, and grounding for machinery or equipment.
Solid and stranded (classes AA and A) bare copper and suitable for overhead transmission and distribution applications. Stranded conductor of greater flexibility (class B and C) are suitable for uninsulated hook up, jumpers, and grounds in electrical construction.
Hard bare copper conductor conductors are used for overhead transmission and distribution of electric energy. Soft and Medium hard tempers bare copper conductors are used as bare neutral in systems of distribution of electric energy and grounding systems.
Our bare copper is soft-drawn or hard drawn, and is available in either solid or stranded construction. Used in overhead electrical transmission and distribution, for grounding electrical systems where high conductivity and flexibility is required. Suitable for numerous other applications.
Ground wires guide the charge generated by these minor or major surges and protect against the risk of electrical shock and fire. We offer ground wires with a variety of maximum amperages and voltages in multiple wire gauges and lengths.
