Your class gives you proficiency with certain types of armor. If you wear armor that you lack proficiency with, you have disadvantage on any ability check, saving throw, or Attack roll that involves Strength or Dexterity, and you can’t cast Spells.
The Armor table collects the most commonly available types of armor found in the game and separaqtes them into three categories: light armor, medium armor, and heavy armor. Many warriors supplement their armor with a shield.
This calculation includes the base armor plus the Dexterity modifier. Example 2: Full Plate Armor. For armor that provides more substantial protection, such as full plate armor, the calculation differs slightly as it doesn't incorporate the Dexterity modifier. Full plate armor alone sets the AC at 18.

25 lip 2021 · By RAW (rules as written), in D&D 5E you can’t attack armor or a weapon during combat while some creature has it in its possession. Nevertheless, this need sometimes arises and that is the reason I created the following tables to use in my games.
Plate consists of shaped, interlocking metal plates to cover the entire body. A suit of plate includes gauntlets, heavy leather boots, a visored helmet, and thick layers of padding underneath the armor. Buckles and straps distribute the weight over the body.
Armor. The Armor table lists the game’s main armor. The table includes the cost and weight of armor, as well as the following details: Category. Every type of armor falls into a category: Light, Medium, or Heavy. The category determines how long it takes to don or doff the armor (as shown in the table). Armor Class (AC).
