Blogger is free, but it's not a platform I recommend. On the other hand, if you are a busy person and just want to write you can pick Ghost (with managed hosting), blogstatic, Substack so you don't have to worry about installing things, updates, and security.

since last week been using Haven Private Blog. Pretty simple but i mainly use it because I can add my own rss feeds for reading. but it is a fully functioning self hosted blog also.
