I use imgur. Instead of copying the link in the browser, right click on the image itself and select "copy image url" or "copy image link". That's worked for me!
On ESPN, the link has to end with any actual file type (for example: www.google.com/image.jpg) for it to be used. You can use pretty much any image link, including gifs, as long as the file type is on the end and it's supported by their site.

If an image from Google doesn't work, I right click the image and go to find other images or image source, I forget what it is exactly called. It will pull the same image from across a bunch of different sites, and I will try all of those.
