The Freedoom project aims to provide all the content needed to form a complete, entirely free/libre game for the Doom engine. It is designed to be compatible with most custom levels, music, graphics and other modifications (“mods”) made for the original Doom games by Doom fans and artists over the decades.

29 sty 2024 · New file names no longer conflict with Doom's freedoom1.wad is Freedoom: Phase 1 - compatible with The Ultimate Doom; freedoom2.wad is Freedoom: Phase 2 - compatible with Doom II and Final Doom; FreeDM and Phase 1 have grown out of the shadows of the project and have seen rapid advances, largely lead by Protox, our prominent Brazilian contributor.
Freedoom is available in two versions, the first of which is a single-player focused game, split in two parts, each of which is compatible with different versions of the classic Doom franchise from id Software. The second is a multiplayer-focused experience for the popular “deathmatch” game mode.
SIGIL™ is a free megawad created by John Romero for the original 1993 DOOM®. It contains nine single-player and nine deathmatch levels. The free megawad will be released in mid- February 2019 and requires players own the original 1993 registered version of DOOM® in order to play.
