It happened to me yesterday, I got banned after trying to load back into a game after a HWID ban. I did nothing to warrant the HWID ban. I loaded the game up today to see whether I was unbanned or not, but when I opened the launcher. I was permanently banned. I have dumped thousands of dollars and hours into this game.
TL;DR - I have been banned from Fortnite in the launcher, with support saying it is permanent and can't be overturned. There have been minimal changes to my personal PC that could have caused such a ban. 2FA was not on, but both my email and account use different passwords that have not been in a data breaches.

Fortnite Launcher App: You can also check for any bans or issues by downloading the Fortnite Launcher app and logging into your account.
To repair the installation of your Epic Games Launcher: Visit: www.epicgames.com; Click on the blue download button in the top right corner. Once the download has completed run the file. Click on the Repair button. If you don't get the repair button, you had an earlier version that is now being updated.
