26 mar 2016 · Folded horn speaker design – explanation and calculator. March 26, 2016. 9 minute read. How does a folded horn speaker design work? The folded horn speaker design is a particular case of a normal horn design. Horn’s main purpose is to increase the efficiency of a speaker.
To specify a direct radiating speaker element without baffle, set L12 and L56 = 0.1 and S1, S2, S5 and S6 = Sd x number of speaker elements. The combined acoustic output is calculated with the normal settings, "Output tool" can be used to calculate either page 1 or 2's acoustic output.

Its large throat and only 9 cm deep is obviously little more than a WG suitable for a ~500 Hz XO and if compression loaded with a sealed back, best tuned to ~232 Hz.

This workbook can be used to design a tapped horn with a "Othorn" style fold. The spreadsheet allows for the design parabolic (default), conical or exponential expansion, the latter two being approximated by parabolic segments.
