You could rely on Apple's boot manager to control which OS to boot, and in that case no non-Apple tool would be involved when booting OS X.
19 paź 2018 · My MacBook won't boot to macOS anymore, only on Linux (Ubuntu). Even restarting with pressing alt doesn't show the macOS disk option anymore. Here is what happened: I set up a dual boot High Siera / Ubuntu 16 on my laptop with rEFInd boot manager. Everything worked fine.
6 lut 2023 · The easiest way to accomplish installing Ubuntu and preserving an existing dual-boot into Mac or Windows, is to add some steps after installing Windows and before installing Ubuntu, as follows. Make sure you have a separate 100 to 200MB partition for the Ubuntu bootloader in addition to the partition for the filesystem.

26 gru 2013 · Windows will overwrite the boot sector whenever you install it, upgrade it to a new version, or use tools like bootrec /fixmbr, bootrec /fixboot, or the older fdisk /mbr. In general, install Windows first, then Linux.
