Here is a true fix for the PS3 Phat and early Slim models. I recommend using 32x 330uf Tantalum Capacitors and 470uf for the Phat models. 21 gru 2022 · On the Playstation 3, the NEC/TOKIN capacitors are prone to failure, causing a Yellow Light if Death error. This is a guide on replacing those capacitors. The Yellow Light of Death is not an error with one specific fix; rather, it is a more general failure.
There is now a newest Syscon diagnostics method which can show you an error code and help you nearly pinpoint faulty components. Sadly, most of the YLOD cases still turn out to be RSX related. Here is a link for the Syscon diagnostics tutorial.

Hiya - I recently took in a PS3 with the YLOD having seen the heatgun fix for it on ifixit. However, digging a bit deeper, I read that it was only a temporary fix and a different fix had been discovered. From there, I dug into more recent posts and apparently the latter fix was also disproved.
the ylod can be triggered if something was not plugged in correctly, bad solder joints, and dead components. It has been confirmed and ylod is not only caused by the rsx chip and the nec capacitors.
