Hertz not only sells rental cars which are worth less due to the history which is why Carfax reports this. They also go out to auctions and purchase many cars for resale purposes. So they are not just clearing old inventory they are also buying new cars that they are selling for Profit.

I got this car right as Hertz was declaring bankruptcy and have had it for a month now. Edit: Bought it late May. I would recommend looking into getting a Hertz rental as the process was nice and easy (for the most part)!
