Fire ant allergy. 10/21/2021. A 10 year-old, in Florida, had fire ant bites on his foot and ankle (five to seven bites). The next day he had a rash on the chest and 48 hours later woke up with a puffy right eye and hives on abdomen and pelvis. He received five days of steroids from urgent care and the rash returned even worse.

23 lut 2021 · Imported fire ants (IFAs) are aggressive, venomous ants that sting with little provocation and are difficult to avoid in endemic areas. Their venom causes painful local reactions and induces a high rate of allergic sensitization.
DIAGNOSIS. Useful clinical clues to the diagnosis of fire ant allergy include (1) the devel-opment of a typical pustule at the sting site after 24 hours; (2) species identi-fication of the culprit insect, and (3) the description of a typical fire ant mound in the vicinity of the sting in-cident.
