One easy way to do it is check if a channel's video has been archived to Wayback Machine. Then go to that old page and copy the link from the user profile which appears below the title. The issue is this only works if the user has uploaded videos and they're archived to archive.org.

On desktop, if you click your avatar icon on the top right, then go to "My Channel", it opens the old style URL e.g. https://www.youtube.com/channel/1234longtext. Not sure about channels that had a custom URL before, I didn't and can't test.
