14 kwi 2020 · Original is fully moddable, so you can upgrade backgrounds, textures, etc... to higher resolution with fan mods, etc. Remaster is still being decoded so that some of those mods will work. Plus the remaster took away some things such as full motion support.

The main characters field models might be a little better in the remaster, I'm not sure, but they didn't upscale the backgrounds. The mods do the character models, gf models, monsters, bosses, cards, menu, field backgrounds, battle backgrounds, and world map.
I think if you want the full experience, including the Chocobo World, go for the Original on Steam. Remaster relies on Angelo Search, which may or may not be in your favor. With the Remaster, some of the RNG manipulations for Triple Triad are much easier and not as time-consuming.
8 wrz 2019 · The most obvious update to FFVIII Remastered is the new character models. Square Enix have painstakingly recreated each of these models, and some are based on their newer designs (Squall’s model, for example, is based on his Dissidia appearance).
5 wrz 2019 · Unfortunately, the models for several characters ended up looking a lot different from the original PS2 release. Several cutscenes (Tidus screaming at Sin after Mi'i'hen or Yuna showing her resolve against Yunalesca ) end up looking a lot less expressive due to these model tweaks.
