In 1934 Goodmans offered just five varieties of fig. In 1989 four varieties were being sold. But other fig varieties were being grown. Since the 1890’s Italian, Greek, Spanish Serbian, Macedonian and other immigrants from Mediterranean countries have brought fig varieties to Australia.
