Preterm births (<37 weeks gestation) were 7.5%; the lowest was in Germany (3.6%), and the highest was in Egypt (14.7%; P =.03 for differences among countries). Neonatal sex distribution showed 47% were female. Median birthweight was 3300 g (IQR, 2980–3615).

The World Health Organization fetal growth charts are intended to be used internationally based on low-risk pregnancies from populations in Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America.
A growth chart is used as a reference against which to assess growth and calculate the percentile of size for a given gestational age. Intrauterine growth charts are based on EFW using obstetric sonogram measurements and birthweight growth charts are based on measured birthweight.
A global version of customized growth charts with over 100 ethnic origin categories is being launched in 2018, and will provide an individualized, yet universally applicable, standard for fetal growth.
