8 paź 2023 · Femoral shaft fractures are high energy injuries to the femur that are associated with life-threatening injuries (pulmonary, cerebral) and ipsilateral femoral neck fractures. Diagnosis is made radiographically with radiographs of the femur as well as the hip to rule out ipsilateral femoral neck fractures.

23 wrz 2024 · Femoral Shaft Fractures are one of the most common pediatric orthopedic fractures and are the most common reason for pediatric hospitalization due to orthopedic injury. Diagnosis is made with plain radiographs of the femur.
28 kwi 2024 · Distal femur fractures are traumatic injuries involving the region extending from the distal metaphyseal-diaphyseal junction to the articular surface of the femoral condyles. Diagnosis is made radiographically with CT studies often required to assess for intra-articular extension.
We help you diagnose your Femur shaft case and provide detailed descriptions of how to manage this and hundreds of other pathologies.
Femur Fracture Management. Diaphyseal fractures are managed by intramedullary nailing through an antegrade or retrograde insertion site. Proximal or distal 1/3 fractures MAY be managed best with a plate or an intramedullary nail depending on the location and morphology of the fracture.
Ipsilateral femoral neck and shaft fractures typically occur as a result of high- energy trauma in a young pa-tient.4 The injury mechanism is commonly an axially di-rected force against the distal femur with the hip and knee flexed, such as a motor ve-hicle accident in which the knee strikes the dashboard.1,5 The femoral shaft fracture is freque...
Diaphyseal fractures are the most common pediatric femoral fracture in US and UK, accounting for 68.0% of the closed fractures for children age < 18 in US (Table 2) and 57.5% of the cases for children age < 15 in UK (Table 3).
