Windows currently recognizes the iPod as a USB disk, even when I switch it out of disk mode. When I go through Device Manager to update the driver under Portable Devices to install the same driver as the iPhone is using, it tells me that it is not a valid driver for that hardware.

I used to manage my ipod with Winamp and only used iTunes for factory reset. I tried both Winamp, previous versions of ITunes and even the most ancient version of iTunes I could find, and the PC still won't see the iPod.

Download a free copy of VMWare Fusion Player for Windows. Very easy to install. Get a copy of an old Windows OS ISO such as Windows 8.0. Next, get a old copy of iTunes and install in the VMWare for Windows. Start up the VMWare with the Windows and iTunes installed and then plug in your iPod.
13 sie 2023 · When I plug it in, the display lights up as if it detects a USB signal, but no charging icon, no iTunes or iPod messages, nothing. I’ve tried force restarting the iPod, restarting iTunes (and Windows), used three different cables (two of them OEM with one being BRAND NEW), and swapping USB ports.
