To help future physicians and other medical professionals recognize the disease’s warning signs, which are often misdiagnosed as common and less dangerous conditions, St. Louis Ovarian Cancer Awareness collaborates with area medical schools in a program called Survivors Teaching Students.
Survivors Teaching Students® brings survivors and caregivers into medical education programs to educate future healthcare providers by sharing stories of diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship, along with facts about ovarian cancer.

She volunteers for Survivors Teaching Students at Johns Hopkins, a program in which cancer survivors speak to third-year medical students to help them better understand the experience of patients with cancer and to prepare them to be better-informed and compassionate doctors.
