Excisional biopsy is performed on small tumors and fulfills both diagnostic and treatment objectives. Marsupialization involves the removal of the top of a cyst allowing drainage of its contents and subsequent epithelialization.

Objective. The aim of this article is to provide an overview of common eyelid lesions presenting to the general practitioner. Discussion. The majority of eyelid lesions are benign, ranging from innocuous cysts (cysts of Moll, Zeis and epidermoid cyst) and chalazion/hordeolum to naevi and papillomas.
