18 sty 2023 · Windows. Whenever I drop new data into a workbook and change formatting, add formulas, or add a new sheet, all existing formulas on different sheets are deleted and replaced with hardcoded values when I view.
8 sie 2013 · Use INDIRECT() on textually referenced File and Sheet names. Example: Make Z1 be 'C:\..\[B.xls]!Sheet1' (with the quotes? Untested) Then use =INDIRECT(Z1&"!A1") where you need to reference cell A1 in that sheet. The INDIRECT function only works if you have the secondary Excel file opened.
20 mar 2023 · When you first open or edit a workbook, Excel automatically recalculates those formulas whose dependent values (cells, values, or names referenced in a formula) have changed. However, you are free to alter this behavior and even stop calculation in Excel.
To recalculate all dependent formulas every time you make a change to a value, formula, or name, in the Calculation options section, under Workbook Calculation, click Automatic. This is the default calculation setting.
When your formula has a reference to a name not defined in Excel, you see the #NAME? error. See the following example of a SUM function referring to Profit, which is an undefined name in the workbook. Solution: Define a name in Name Manager, and then add the name to the formula by following these steps:

It works fine and gives me the expected result if I click the green tick in the formula bar but won't update automatically after I colour another cell. How do I set it to automatically update the count every time I manually colour a cell elsewhere on the spreadsheet?
