Excel allows you to customize the startup behavior where you can specify if you want to open a new blank workbook (instead of the start screen), or a specific Excel file, or even all the files in a specific folder.
To automatically open a specific workbook when you start Excel, you can place that workbook in the XLStart folder, or you can use an alternate startup folder in addition to the XLStart folder. Locate the XLStart folder. Any workbook, template, or workspace file that you place in the XLStart folder is automatically opened when you start Excel.
1 mar 2016 · Whenever I start up my Mac Mini (running OS Mavericks) or Macbook Air (OS 10.9), I have to wait while Word and Excel automatically load and open. I've tried stopping this from happening via system preferences, but to no avail.

Simply select an app that you want to launch and nominate it by clicking "Open" to add it to the list of startup items.
