The Excel COUNTIFS function returns the count of cells in a range that meet one or more conditions. Each condition is provided with a separate range and criteria , and all conditions must be TRUE for a cell to be included in the count.
Use COUNTIF, one of the statistical functions, to count the number of cells that meet a criterion; for example, to count the number of times a particular city appears in a customer list. In its simplest form, COUNTIF says: =COUNTIF(Where do you want to look?, What do you want to look for?)
To count rows where two (or more) criteria match, you can use a formula based on the COUNTIFS function. In the example shown, the formula in cell G5 is: = COUNTIFS (B5:B15,"blue",C5:C15,">15") The result is 3, since there are three rows with a color of "blue" and quantity greater than 15.
