The EU unemployment rate was 5.9% in September 2024, also stable compared with August 2024 and down from 6.1% in September 2023.

We make several recommendations to improve the quality of European statistics. These include better meeting user needs, prioritising EU funding for innovative projects, improving the quality assessment of European statistics, and reconsidering the current practice of pre-releasing statistics.
