14 wrz 2012 · Two stats, ERA+ and ERA-, are supposed to tell us roughly the same thing. But do you really know how they work, and how to use them? And is one less useful than the other?
ERA- is better because like OPS+, it compares to the player to the league. For example, an OPS+ of 140 means 40 percent better than league average. an ERA- of 60 means that the player is 40% better than league average, but that's a 167 ERA+. For a 50 ERA-, that's a 200 ERA+.
