I was just at the vet today, Oregon US. This is approved and recommended for my 11 year old dog, who had osteoarthritis confirmed via xray. The way she has been limping, I'm glad it's nothing else! The vet prescribed Galliprant and then remembered they have this new prescription injection: Librela.
18 maj 2021 · The efficacy is under half (brings relief to 45% of dogs), so if it's not effective after the second injection, you and your vet will need to seek other avenues of treatment. It's also administered alongside an NSAID anti inflammatory, and there's no real data on how safe it is long-term.

1 cze 2022 · Librela has helped many dogs, yes, but it has hurt far more and there are long term health risks for the dogs that are benefiting. Bottom line is we weren’t notified of the risks, and would never have done it if we had been.
In two field studies, dogs administered Librela as a monthly injection demonstrated a reduction in OA pain compared to dogs that received the placebo. Librela was shown to improve mobility and overall quality of life.
